We left Memphis around 7:45 am to start our ride on The Blues Hwy. (61) also know as The Road Of Great Lakes. The landscape along Hwy. 61 is primary flat farm land. The section we rode today ran through the Mississippi Delta hence Delta Blues. Stopped in Clarksdale, MS. with the first stop being at the world-famous CROSSROADS were the legend of Robert Johnson began who sold his soul to the devil (he died at the age of 27). Abes BBQ is located at the intersection of 61 & 49. Then visited Delta Blues Museum with history on artists like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and BB King just to name a few. We went to Ground Zero Blues Club (owned by Morgan Freeman), an for one day only performing The Uncle Willie Band with keyboardist and lead vocalist Ms. Lil. After a brief photo session we had lunch at Connie’s Kitchen, nice mom and pop place. Continued our ride South on 61 to Natchez, MS..Rode in and out of some short rain showers but at the end of the day the Son’s glory shined on all of our faces.
