Today we rode the Black Hills of South Dakota. The highest summit in the Black Hills is Black Elk Peak at 7,244 feet. Traveled out to Mount Rushmore, then we rode the Iron Mountain Road. Iron Mountain Road is a 17 mile run consisting of 314 curves, 14 switchbacks and 3 pigtail bridges. Then we went through Custer Park and we only saw a few animals today 1 lonely buffalo, some Prong Horns and a Elk. Custer Park is a 71,000 acre state park with it’s terrain consisting of rolling prairie, grasslands and mountains. After Custer we rode to Crazy Horse, the memorial will depict Oglala Lakota warrior Crazy Horse when it is completed. He will also being riding a horse and pointing to his tribal land. The memorial will be 641ft. in length and 563ft. in height upon completion and it was started on June 3, 1948. Then some of us went into Deadwood and had dinner at The Silverado. I am always in awe went I am surrounded by God’s wonderful and amazing creation.
