Sorry for the delay the hotel here in Cody lost it’s internet service due to high winds. So we will begin with our departure from Deadwood, SD. on Friday June 11. We left with a riding temp of 36 out 85 South over to WY. 585 North before getting on 90 West. After stopping at Gillette Harley Davidson it was on to 14 West to Cody, WY.. Riding 14 we rode through Bighorn National Forest with snow on both sides and the temperature dropping 30 degrees. Leaving Grey Bull it was a short ride to Cody were we connected with our wives. The Lord blessed us all with a safe journey and those with wives a joyful reunion.
Today was Needles Highway and Sturgis. It was great day of riding, sunshine and fellowship, And above all the time spent communing with God through His creation. Tomorrow we leave Deadwood heading to Cody, WY. where we will meet our wives for the first time since June 1st. May the light of Son shine upon your face and bring warmth to your heart.
This morning was another full day of riding seeing the Master’s art work, by the greatest Artist the world has ever known. Truly it’s been a blessing for me to be able to do what I have done over the last several years. I never take it for granted, for the only difference between myself and someone else is a breath. For our life’s can change in a instance; So take the time to enjoy what God has blessed us with. Our journey today began by riding 85 South to Lead and turning West on 14A through Spearfish Canyon. Then it was over to Belle Fourche onto SD 34 / WY 24 to Devils Tower. Afterwards Deluxe Harley Davidson in Sundance. WY. was our next stop. Then we rode WY 585 south to Four Corners were we took 85 North back to Deadwood. Here is a update on the ladies since the last one. They have been in Lincoln, NE., North Platte, NE. and tonight in Casper, WY.. They continue to enjoy the sight seeing and the time together. Be blessing to someone tomorrow.
Today we rode the Black Hills of South Dakota. The highest summit in the Black Hills is Black Elk Peak at 7,244 feet. Traveled out to Mount Rushmore, then we rode the Iron Mountain Road. Iron Mountain Road is a 17 mile run consisting of 314 curves, 14 switchbacks and 3 pigtail bridges. Then we went through Custer Park and we only saw a few animals today 1 lonely buffalo, some Prong Horns and a Elk. Custer Park is a 71,000 acre state park with it’s terrain consisting of rolling prairie, grasslands and mountains. After Custer we rode to Crazy Horse, the memorial will depict Oglala Lakota warrior Crazy Horse when it is completed. He will also being riding a horse and pointing to his tribal land. The memorial will be 641ft. in length and 563ft. in height upon completion and it was started on June 3, 1948. Then some of us went into Deadwood and had dinner at The Silverado. I am always in awe went I am surrounded by God’s wonderful and amazing creation.
This morning was a late departure under clear skies and temps on the rise. This morning’s ride began with a blessing, Chuck got his bike back ready to ride. It was back out 90 West and the fight was on with the brutal winds once again. The winds were strong enough that the bikes had to be in a slight left lean to go straight and the trikes needed a little more pull on the left grip. If you are ever on 90 stop off at the Belvidere exit and visit JC’s C-Store, they have some of best homemade cookies and snack you will ever eat. Griz also met is older cuz Gary there (not really). But we did managed to get to 240 West and ride the Badlands Loop before stopping at Wall Drugs for lunch. Leaving Wall it was onto Deadwood, SD. When we arrived here this evening Brother Spokane Bob was here waiting on us, he will be riding with for several days. And we will be here until Friday June 11th. On this leg of the trip God has done so many things, He gave the opportunity to pray for others, help others, to meet new Brothers and a Sister, He continued to keep safe and upright during this time. We also witness a couple other blessing, two major accidents with no fatalities or apparent major injuries. There is more we could talk about but it’s save that for a later time. Mark 9:23 tell us that all things are possible for those who believe. And I do believe through the revelation of Jesus Christ that all thing are possible. But my question for you this evening do you?
This morning it was a quick ride up 29 N to Sioux Falls, SD. to meet Brother Joe Lewis. Joe is the president of FAM Christian MC, And for those who are wanting to know FAM stands for Family. After breakfast we were getting ready to head out 90 West towards Chamberlain, SD. when one of the bikes started having running issues. Discovering it was a charging issue we replaced the battery, which allowed us to ride to Mitchell, SD. to visit the Corn Place. Leaving Mitchell to continue our journey to Chamberlain the bike drew it’s last breath, stopping at White Lake Rest Area. So after some discussion there were a few phone calls made to towing services. And there was one who said they would call us back to let us know when they would get there. After a long period of time of waiting we try to call for help by the CB with no luck. Then some of us were talking, and the statement was made that the Lord needs to send us a truck and trailer. Well this is how God works, He did not only send us a truck and trailer but also the driver (Hayden) was a motorcycle mechanic with a shop. He ran by the shop and confirmed that the charging system was bad. Here is the other blessing, the bike is a 01 and he had the parts to fix it. Then they give Brother Chuck a car so he can drive to meet us a the hotel. The bike will be ready this morning. Then it’s on to the Badlands and Wall Drugs before getting to Deadwood, SD. Don’t you love it when God shows up and shows out. Even when things seem hopeless He is always the Hope and the Light in our darkness moments. Amen! Have a great and awesome day.
Today was another day of riding, leaving under big blue skies with a occasional cloud of white. Riding North this morning from Salina, KS. on 135. Then in late morning it was 81 North to 30 East into Columbus, NE.. After lunch at the Apple House we continued East on 30 before getting on 77 North. 30 was a constant battle with a southerly wind, while 77 had it’s own challenges. 77 was like riding a broken washboard, it truly needs some serious attention. But we did finally arrived to Sioux City, IA. for the night. We will see what tomorrow has in store for us as we continue our journey out West. We serve a mighty and awesome God. You all have a good night.
Today was a day riding and fellowship. Left Sands Springs, OK. with bright blue skies with cotton candy clouds of white and some with a hint of gray. This morning we rode west on 412 which turns into Cimarron Turnpike, be prepared for tolls. After paying our tolls we headed North on 177 to US 77 North. Later in Winfield, KS we went west on US 106 to I-35 North. Passing through Wichita, KS. the home of Freddy’s Burgers, then it was quick stop at Twister HD before grabbing a bite at Spangles. After lunch it was onto Salina, KS. for night. Dinner tonight was at Tucson Steakhouse a locally owned restaurant, we also recommend it if ever in the area. The ladies are in Branson, MO. for the next few days sightseeing and enjoying the shows. Tomorrow for us will be another day of riding and fellow as we make our way to Sioux City, IA.. God is Good, Amen!
Before heading out on today’s ride it was breakfast at Old South. This restaurant understands the meaning of hospitality with smiling faces and doesn’t hurt that they have very affordable prices. Then it was out 64 West with crisp temps as we rode along the Arkansas River. Then in Ozark we turn North on 23 also known as the Pig Trail Scenic Byway was designated this because of it’s steeps hills and hairpin turns. While other say it is because the curves reminds them of a curling pig’s tail. No matter the reason is well worth the experience, it just not about the ride it is also about the scenery, a chance to feel the presents of God through Hid beautiful creation. Afterwards it was West on 412 then 49 North to Pig Trail Harley Davidson. Leaving Rodgers out 102 West and 59 South to Silaim Springs were we got back on 412 West towards Tulsa, OK.. 102 and 59 are also two other good roads to ride; 102 is once you clear Bentonville (birthplace of Walmart). We are in Sands Springs, OK. for the night and tomorrow we will be riding to Kansas. The ladies left today and making their first stop in Paducah, KY.. After their arrival it was to the Quilt Museum and a little sight seeing along the river. Final note you never know when God is going to give you an opportunity to share, pray or to fellowship with someone. Point is that are we not supposed be prepared in and out of season. I am truly thankful for His wonderful opportunities that He gives me.
This morning we left Olive Branch, MS. under cloudy skies and a slight chill in the air. We had decided to ride a little out of the way today rather then try our luck with the morning traffic in Memphis. And now only having one bridge to 40 just complicated things even more. So we rode to Tunica, MS. were we got on 61 South (The Great River Road of Mississippi) then it was on to 49 North (Civil War Heritage Trail). Both ran through the Delta of Mississippi and Arkansas. This area is also known as the Mississippi Alluvial Plains, with elevations between 100 and 300 feet above sea level. Later crossing the Mississippi River the water way of the East. You don’t realize how vital the river is to our economy until you see the large barges running up and down the river. Afterward riding the countryside it was a 90 mile run out 40 West to Toad Suck Harley Davidson in Conway. AR.. Believe me that 90 mile run out 40W is all we needed to appreciate the back roads of this country. Afterwards we got on 64 West (Trail of Tears Heritage Trail) to Russellville, AR.. In Russellville we stopped at the Old South restaurant, yes another mom and pop type place, well worth the stop you won’t be disappointed. This is what ran across my mind today while we were riding this wonderful creation. Is that man truly can not predict what God can and will do. One small example is the weather. Last night and early this morning it was 70 – 80 percent chance of rain, But the further we rode it became clouds of gray and white against the backdrop of blue. Then later in the morning the Sun started to glare through the clouds to bring some warmth to the body. Just goes to show no matter how much technology man has God does have the final word. May you and yours have a blessed evening.
